Team Awesome is about being awesome.
It's about friends. It's about teamwork. It's about connections, socializing, networking, being healthy, keeping fit, happiness and a million other things. But most importantly, it's about acknowledging the awesomeness around you and adding to it.

One of the membership obligations is to not only be awesome, but to participate in activities that prove your awesomeness. But take note, there is no defined measurement of awesomeness. The outlook and perspective you have on yourself and your level of awesome will influence your performance in awesomeness. If you think and believe that you are awesome, then you will be. It's as simple as that.

History.
Team Awesome began in Atlanta as the go-to name for weekly trivia or the title a group of friends gave themselves while doing something cool (usually human pyramids). In 2007, that group of friends decided to enter a team in a road race. They got 20 people to commit, so they made shirts with sharpies and looked awesome, obviously.

But in 2009, they decided to get real shirts printed and enter a bigger road race together. Their intentions were merely to look awesome together while running the race, making the 3 miles more fun. That goal was definitely achieved, but they also realized that as a team, they were more motivated, others were inspired, and the awesome level was raised dramatically. So they kept doing it.

From 2009 to 2010, they went from 20 members in homemade shirts to a real website, 100 shirts printed and over 170 people getting an official newsletter (and growing). In 2010 alone, Team Awesome entered over 15 events together in Atlanta. Not to mention the many events held in Seattle and Boston.

In 2011, we hit our stride. Together, in multiple states across the country, we entered 5ks, 10ks, triathlons, adventure races, half and full marathons. But we also held happy hours, went on bike tours, made up adventures around town, went swimming, did amazing races, scavenger hunts, pub crawls, held parties, book club meetings and craft nights. We even launched a brand new branch in Maryland, DC & Virginia and we nearly doubled in members all over!

What will 2012 bring? We don't know yet... but we know it's going to be awesome.
